i like subtley flavored but rich chocolate ice cream. my favorite all-time is from a little place in montgomery county, maryland called giffords. their swiss chocolate is beyond compare. but turkey hill's dutch chocolate, available in grocery stores all over the place (around here), is very, very good.
for topping i like cocoa krispies on vanilla ice cream with a touch of chocoalte syrup. when we toured the kelloggs factory in battle creek, michigan (i was in the 9th grade) they served us little bowls of that combo at the end of the tour. yumm.
my favorite oddball flavor is pistachio...hard to find, especially pure and unadulterated.
it's usually pistachio almond swirl or some other fancy pants idea. they get way too complicated with ice-cream flavors for my taste. keep it simple and high quality. in fact, it's hard to beat a good vanilla (because you you can always add a topping if you're in the mood).
i like all ice cream, no exceptions! but especially ice cream with chunks in it. shell topping is basically divine.
Favorite Flavor = Stracciatella! It's actually gelato, not ice cream, and is really a lot like chocolate chip, but very different at the same time. You can see more amazing flavors (including pistachio! it's amazing too) on this site:

But, I've not had any truly good gelato in America, you sort of have to be in a foreign country for it to be true and delicious.
Best topping would be this berry chocolate mix I had in Austria called Hieb Lieber or "Hot Love" sundae - it was amazing and it had this wafer on it too and I still to this day, 6 years later, dream of that sundae! So you know it had to be good!
If I can't have gelato, which I can't 99.9% of the time, then I will only eat home made ice cream, made with raw milk of course, because I'm not willing to pay the price of aches and pains from my dairy allergy by eating anything else! :) I usually make coffee flavored - another one of my favorites.
I'm a simple eater...chocolate ice cream, hot fudge sauce, marshmallow sauce and LOTs of chocolate sprinkles
plain ol' lovely classic chocolate: favorite.
best topping: microwaved gourmet raspberry chocolate pretzel dip. we have some in the fridge. i've been on a raspberry thing lately. you can come over and eat some if you'd like. --but not all of it. it's a very small jar. ahem. ;)
there are already too many flavors in the world, i think! good heavens. i can't think of a single one to make up that would actually be worth eating.
oh, p.s., 2nd place: mint chocolate chip. excellently refreshing, that.
vanilla is most wonderful.
or breyer's coffee.
i'd make up macadamia nut.
I love cookies n' cream. Mmmm. I'm also very partial to chocolate chip & mint & chip. Have you ever had Moose Tracks? It's delightful. Vanilla ice cream with a swirl of thick melt in your mouth chocolate followed by tiny peanut butter cups. You know what they should invent? Chocolate chip peanut butter cookie ice cream.
vanilla..not too sweet and really frozen so i can eats little good bits at a time. idon't like toppings. sometimes in the mood for crumbled oreos. just plain in a pretty bowl. or not and that's okay too.
invent? i think they're all already out there.
It's been the same ever since I was 10--Stewart's Black Rasberry.
Walnuts are the best topping for anything, ice cream included.
And I'd make up green grape ice cream.
MOOSE TRACKS from Mr's T's!!! pax, you would love it..i think i have it every night for the past two weeks. yeah.
toppings: well... bananas. yeah... definitely bananas.
and if i could make a flavor..i would keep it simple with some peanut butter sort of flavoring. maybe they've already made that... oh well.
Anyone ever had Green's (I believe they're in PA) Snapper? It's a caramel based ice cream with other good stuff in it. It's one of my favorite, but I have to agree with my brother, Damien. Gifford's Swiss Chocolate is the all-time best!
Gifford's made an Alpine Split with bananas and an a Swiss Chocolate Sauce on Swiss Chocolate ice cream. You think you're in heaven when you eat it.
I have to agree with Brae regarding a "new" flavor: I'd love to try some sort of macadamia nut and cashew ice cream with caramel and chocolate swirled through it.
mos def cheesecake ice cream with graham cracker pie crust and raspberries!
and i would make up the flavor "Mama Cindy's Gingerbread Cookie Ice Cream"
